We started out this project with a story boarding exercise: how to make toast!
We also started out this project part of the project with a story boarding exercise. I chose two solutions: one called sharing buddies, one called the food app.
This first story is of a person who doesnt know about food insecurity, wants to help, joins a group, group drives to food bank together, they deliver together, then become buddies.
I tried to be playful with the frames and movement and scale.
This second one tries to place a person repeatedly on the bottom left of the frame and tries to show all the different things they can do without moving. (Even thought the app is about moving around).
After meeting with the group, we had some trouble with the reality of the situation, we all had designed story boards around helping a young volunteer get moving. However, it seemed the most pressing problem was lack of awareness. So we had to change our direction to address that problem.
We met in person!
We worked on a layout for our new poster.

Then we digitized! I was in charge of poster design, tai did story board, jenny and remi did the script and presentation.
I started off 3D modeling the phones and choosing views of the phones.
A little wonky…
…getting better.
I was kind of sad the story board figures weren’t as expressive as the movement of the phones. So I showed Tai this resource: dimensions.guide
Looking better, not sure if the colors are working for me. Red paired with yellow is supposed to make one feel hungry!
And here is the final:
I tried to allow for more breathing room around the text. I am not really happy with the final result. I’m not sure where I went wrong… I think the phones should have been more carefully composed to allow space for text. I feel that the phones had such saturated colors that it was hard for the other colors to feel muted. There were a lot of elements battling each other. The title could have had more interaction with the content, instead of just sitting at the top. I believe I could do a lot better given another week.
